November 2021 News

Happy November everyone!! October seemed to fly by, and the races were near perfect in weather, attendance and fun, so let’s keep that going this month!!

The first race up is Lulu’s 5K, this Saturday, Nov. 6, 8am, held in Destin. Registration is open through race morning at Lulu’s. Come out and enjoy a great course, post-race and plenty of cool raffle prizes. https://www.active.com/destin-fl/running/distance-running-races/lulus-marlin-5k-2021

The next race is the inaugural ACA 5K, which supports the Air Commando Association. Nov. 20th, 8:30am, at AJ’s Shanty on Okaloosa Island.

Following ACA is the Track Club’s very own Recycle Run 5K. It’s on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25th, 8am start. It’s a great race, and at a $10 entry fee it’s quite the bargain!!! The awards are a selection of gathered items, so we’re looking for donations of old running awards and T-shirts to present to winners, Text/call me for drop off info. It is a Grand Prix event and we are always looking for volunteers for registration, finish line, and the water stop.

The Props “Trot for Troops 5K is next, 2 days after the Recycle Run on Nov. 27th. It’s an 8am start from the Props Brewery, downtown Ft. Walton.

November is also the time to get the word out about the Track Club’s Annual Christmas Party!! The date this year is Saturday, December 4th. Location is the El Matador condominiums at 909 Santa Rosa Blvd. The party is in the Fiesta Room (upstairs) and starts at 6pm. The cost is $25 single, or $40 couple. It includes Dinner, DJ (hopefully) and dancing, and also the optional, very much fun, gift exchange. You can get tickets through track club officers, or during the November races, Please RSVP by Thanksgiving so we can get a count for caterer.

One last item….it’s time to get your teams set for the Round the Bay Relay. Dennis Samac will be at the races collecting team sign up forms for the Dec. 31st event.

The next track club meeting will be Wednesday, Nov 10th at Ricks.

That pretty much wraps up November news, so let’s keep those group runs, track workouts, and long runs going, and the races will be a breeze!!!
